About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but have trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when the association told how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in the backyard glider swing. This act of inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While half a century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

I have 2 Britax Frontiers in Pink, and Graco Nautilus in pink as well. As a mother who has a second model, I will tell you the main differences between the two seats from my point of view.
# 1 Frontier is more expensive (which is why I got a Nautilus for my backup)
# 2 Frontier is SO much easier to adjust the height of the shoulder strap. With a simple squeeze lever, the rope up. The Graco need rethreaded. This is a HUGE pain when you have other children who want to use the chair. With Frontier, then no biggie to pull the lever.
# 3 Frontier seat materials which are prone to wear and rubbing the child's legs under the chair. It also shows WAY more stains and soaks up spills quickly than the Graco.
# 4 Frontier has 3 crotch strap adjustment for easy installation. The Graco has only 2 that make the older child sits on the rope. It can be uncomfortable. My oldest DD requires the coating of the crotch strap on the Frontier (he says it makes the chair look like a "baby seat" with a pad), but he can not do this with Graco, a crotch strap rubbing on her leg cause irritation when wearing red shorts . Graco pad is very thick and wrapped around the rope (between the legs) and then go up to sit in the stomach. He does not seem to mind sitting on it, but it does not look too comfortable to me.
# 5 Padding on the Frontier is WAY thicker (on the back seat and two chairs) and more comfortable to sit on. I can not imagine that Graco will be comfortable for long trips.
# 6 head slumped forward for young children during sleep at Graco. "Wings" around the head is very fat (giving the appearance of "yonger child seat") and so close to the child's head that caused him to go forward when sleeping. This border has a broad "wings" and is perfect for children's sleep. "Wings" which is more distant from the head and right angled to allow the bed and looked out the window. "Wings" is thinner and has more than see the "big" kids. It looks much thinner in NO WAY implies that Graco is safer to "wing" is thicker, as the Britax states that the wings are "true side impact protection". Graco did not state this. Plastic material around the wings seem strong at Frontier, although they are thinner. Frontier also has a "hug" in the harness system to minimize head movement forward. Graco did not.
# 7 Graco only have 12.5-inch wide seats for children to move in. Frontier has a seating area around 12.5 ivory, but is open to a wide seat width of 17 inches. This may not be a problem for young children, but older need more room. It can, however, a problem for small cars.
# 8 Cup holder and the "hidden" storage neat at Graco. Frontier has two cup holders, but they can not both be out, as one hits the door when installed on the far right or left. The cup holder is also not running smoothly in and out when installed in a vehicle, as a block of seats cup holders of the repeal. This does not happen when the seat is not snugged down, but when installed ..... It is not too much of a problem as we let them out. It only becomes a problem when I have a third child tried to walk to the back row to the second Frontiers-3 with a cup holder out!
Bottom line. If you need a car seat around the time that Britax has a sale, I'll get it for Graco. The price difference at that time would only be $ 50. I think the big boys you will be happier in the Frontier. If you have small children, remember, he / she will be a big boy soon!
